What is a router?

1. What is a packet?
Everything you do on the internet.
2. What is a configuration table?
A collection of information.
3. What are the two jobs of a router?
Sending your information faster, and its a device that sees every mesage you send.
4. Under “Transmitting Packets” what different routes (e.g. copper wiring) may information take?
Fiber optics, microwaves, and satellites.
5. The largest routers used to handle data at the major traffic points on the Internet are most like industrial routers rather than office routers.
6. Routing Packets: What is a subnet mask?
An IP adress.
7. What is a logical address?
It describes a way someone can get a message to you.
8. What is a MAC Address?
The physical adress.
